Mantra Information

Kundalini Yoga Mantras are chanted in a special language, Gurmukhi, that connects us with the inner sound current which we listen to as we chant.. While "Gurmukhi" is spoken, it is a poetic rendering, written in a script intended for spiritual writings. There are 84 meridian points on the roof of the mouth which the tongue stimulates, and they in turn stimulate the hypothalamus which makes the pineal gland radiate. When the pineal gland radiates, it creates an impulse in the pituitary gland. When the pituitary gland gives impulses, the entire glandular system secretes and a human being obtains bliss. This is the science.

The "Wah Yantee" mantra is known for awakening the intuition. Wha Yantee is one of the mantras on every Aquarian Sadhana CD. According to Yogi Bhajan the practice of this mantra is the culmination of hundreds of years of prayer.

The Long Akaal Akaal Akaal (Undying)

The Long Akaal is chanted upon the death of anyone, friend, beloved, or friend of a friend. It helps the Soul leave the Earth and head for the light. It will also help any soul that is ready to go. And, I like that and I think of that when I am chanting it. That all Souls that hear the words are taken to the light, the Source of All there is. The chanting of the Akal farewell raises the vibration and light to aid in the transition. I recorded the chant this summer for my young friend Forest Raven when she died. In fact, Forest insisted I get off my butt and record it for her moms. My friend Kim Rushing died on Saturday, and I am chanting it for her, and added some images in support of the journey to the Infinite, Undying. ~  Selah Martha

This powerful chant can be used anytime a loved one passes to honor their spirit and help them 'cross into the blue ethers', as it is known in the Kundalini yoga tradition, essentially helping the soul move on to another dimension of life. This amazing chant, sung by Snatam Kaur at Sat Nam Fest East 2013, was sung in honor of Holy Kaur, a long-time member of the Kundalini yoga community. Spirit Voyage released this video on the 10th Anniversary of the passing of Yogi Bhajan, the master of Kundalini yoga. ~  Snatam Kaur

Akal Akal Akal Akal (Sounds like A-Caaaaaaaaaaa, A-Caaaaaaaaaaa, A-Caaaaaaaaaaa) Akal Akal Akal Akal Akal Akal Akal Akal

Sit in Easy pose (cross-legged with spine, neck, and head in alignment, slight chin tuck)

Eyes closed, focus at 3rd Eye (up and out, 2 ½ finger widths above the bridge of the nose) Gyan Mudra (Arms outstretched, straight line shoulder to finger tips, index fingernail in first joint of thumb)

Set intent: For passing of "state the name" and any other souls that are ready to go into the light.

Location: your choice but some highly energy sensitive people prefer to do it outside because it draws many souls to the chant who are ready to leave.

Inhale deeply

Chant akal"AKAL" (with long all, Sounds like A Caaaaaaaaaaal) Inhale and begin again. Duration 11 minutes optimum Done daily for 17 days.

First 3 days optimum to chant akal twice a day within 2 ½ hours before sun rises and sets.

Any time or duration is an acceptable blessing. If you want to commit to 17 days and you miss a day, simply begin the count again.

Translation:

Oh Guru Ram Das, this is my prayer to you. May my words be from you and may my mind be a source of knowledge and ectasy that wisdom may come as I act as a servant of the infinite.

I bow to the Primal Guru I bow to the Guru throughout the ages I bow to the Guru that is true here and now I bow to the Great Guru that will always and forever be.

This chant was done by Yogi Bhajan before he lectured. He tuned into Guru Ram Das and the Golden Chain of Teachers that have passed wisdom down on this planet for centuries. If at any time you would like to tune into this energy, or simply feel the presence of Guru Ram Das and Yogi Bhajan with you this is a perfect mantra to chant, or listen to. It is on Snatam Kaur's-CD 'Connect and Heal'.

Triple Mantra by Nirinjan Kaur

This mantra clears the karma of the past present and future. Clears all types of mental, psychic, and physical obstacles in ones daily life. It protects against accidents, cuts through opposing vibrations, thoughts, words and actions. It strengthens your mind and magnetic field and keeps negativity away. Reprograms our mind so that we can operate from the Neutral Mind--so that we can move out of duality into the dance of universal polarities.

Sahej Sukh Dhyan Meditation

Sahej Sukh Dhyan is a wonderful and powerful meditation (Pranayama). Bliss, happiness and comfort! What could be better? We practiced it together at Sikh Student Camp last summer and a group of Singhs and Kaurs came together each morning to do it before morning Japji Sahib. If you practice it,

it will give you a very calm mind and the ability to listen deeply and understand the root of any situation.

Try starting with 5 minutes and work up to 11 minutes. You can do it for as long as you like, but I suggest 11 minutes for 40 days.

Nirinjan Kaur sings "Sa Re Sa Sa" Live at Sat Nam Fest East 2012

Kabadshe Mantra is the meditation that opens the chakras for the full effect of any other mantra. It is a sensitizing meditation for the impact of the inner sound current. It is the base of all mantras. The original practice of mastery in mantra required that you master this before any other mantra practice. Anyone who practices this is granted prosperity, creativity and protection against attacks. It gives new power to your words. It brings good luck even if you are a scoundrel. (I chanted this for 8 months one time, because someone was making psychic attacks on me. Every day I did this mantra until she got mad at someone else. This was someone who practiced black magic. Sat Avtar Kaur)

SAT NAM - Spoken (Biji - Seed Mantra)

Sat Naam

NOTE: This mantra is spelled exactly, in accordance with KRI's International Kundalini Yoga, Teacher Training, Textbook, Level One, Instructor; Copyright 1969-2005.

Translation: It is the Seed Mantra or Biji Mantra and it is the most widely used mantra in the practice of Kundalini Yoga.

Sat means the Truth;

Nam means to call upon, name or identify with.

Sat Nam means Truth is my identity and I call upon the eternal Truth that resides in all of us. It is pronounced to rhyme with "But Mom!"

Chanting this mantra awakens the Soul, and more simply means "reality".

"Biji" or seed mantras use universal sound currents to rearrange the habit patterns of the mind.

pg 158 in- BOOK: Kundalini Yoga by Shakta Kaur Khalsa

This is a mantra where you inhale Sat and exhale Nam and I did this in the ER one time when waiting for help. I think they forgot I was there. It took them a long time to come back to me. I just inhaled Sat and exhaled Nam.
