 Healthy Happy Holy Breath

Originally taught by Yogi Bhajan on July 10, 1975

This meditation uses the power of the breath to enhance the depth of the effects of the mantra Healthy am I, Happy am I, Holy am I, and to carry out your intentions.

When practiced correctly, the breath will slow to two and a half breaths per minute. This shift from the normal 12-15 breaths per minute is significant. Once the breath rate is slower than four breaths per minute, the central brain starts functioning more intensely. The pineal and pituitary glands shift their relationship to each other. In this state the effects of outer and inner sound are greater. The mantra will become more penetrating. A larger portion of yourself will be able to synchronize and carry out your intentions.

How to Do this Meditation:

Posture: Sit in any easy posture that keeps the spine straight.

Mental focus: Bring the mental focus to the Brow Point.

Breath and Mantra: Inhale deeply and completely through the nose. Hold the breath by suspending the movement of the chest. Silently repeat the mantra 3 times: Healthy Am I, Happy Am I, Holy Am I. As you exhale, repeat the mantra out loud three times. Each repetition of the phrase takes about five seconds.

Time: Continue for 11 minutes.

To End: Inhale deeply, relax the  breath, and sit silently for a minute or two. Then inhale deep, stretch the arms up over your head with the fingers interlocked, and pull the spine up. Exhale and relax.

When you are teaching this meditation, it is best to guide the students by chanting the mantra out loud as they suspend the breath.

Special Morning Sadhana Celebrating Guru Ram Das Birthday

Every Fall we have the blessing of celebrating Guru Ram Das Ji's birthday. Known as the Lord of Miracles, Guru Ram Das embodied humility, service, and deep devotion. Guru Ram Das held a special place in Yogi Bhajan's heart. Yogi Bhajan gave us a special sadhana to do in celebration of Guru Ram Das's birthday.

September 28 - October 8: For 11 days prior to his birthday we chant the shabd Dhan Dhan Ram Das Gur for 11 - 31 minutes. This is the Shabad of Miracles.

October 9th: This is the day we celebrate Guru Ram Das Ji's birth, when we have a special sadhana of chanting Dhan Dhan Ram Das Gur for 2 ½ hours in the Amrit Vela.

4:30 - 5:15 am: Recitation of Japji Sahib and a short yoga set.
5:15 - 7:45 am: Chanting Dhan Dhan Ram Das Gur for 2.5 hours
7:45 am Breakfast - Yogi Tea and dish to pass
Come when you can and stay as long as you are able.

At the end of this post there are several versions of this shabd for you to enjoy.

Our hearts have opened the doors at Spirit Rising Yoga Center for this special Morning Group Sadhana once again. When we practice together, we magnify and multiply the elevation and vibration of peace and consciousness.

Yogi Bhajan has described this occasion as a powerful time for the fulfillment of prayers and a time of great blessing.

In addition, October 6 marks the Day of Remembrance of Yogi Bhajan's passing. This is a special time to reflect on his life and legacy, and give thanks for his teachings.

There is no charge for this special sadhana. Any donations are always welcome for Spirit Rising Foundation's scholarship fund.
